The Jae Bedford Band 101-Chapter 1
Dunedin 1999-
The band begun officially in 1999 in Dunedin with the amazing rhythm section of Mark Reeve on drums & Gary Moss on Bass. Gary & Mark were the first real believers in wat Jae was doing as a songwriter & gave Jae the cofidence he needed to make an album.
Nelson 2000
Jae then moved to nelson to attend the Nelson school of music. Were Jae met the amazing musicians that would go on to form the Rebels. Jae wrote a bunch of new songs for the 'One true thing' album and the other half were older songs that had been floating around (some since 1995) a while. Jae Bedford and the Rebels played many shows in Marlborough, Neson bays, Christchurch & Kaikora on the tour to promote the album.
Christchurch 2001
Jae having a troubadours soul & a thirst for new musical ventures moved again in 2001 to Christchurch. Were Jae had an amazing creative outburst, Reaching the point of hundreds of original songs. Jae formed a band with local's and played all over Christchurch on a regular basis.
Dunedin 2002
Jae then went home with his new found insperations and experiences. He soon reconneted with drummer Mark Reeve who was performing in a classic rock band called 'Stark Raving', who were looking for a singer/Lyricist. Jae Bedford & Stark Raving soon mustered together about 14 songs and decided to record. Jae & the much older 'Stark Raving' team grew increasingly apart musically. Jae wanted to perform live and they didnt. Jae was growing in a hugely different direction to the band. So the band parted ways with Jae as soon as the album was finished and released in 2003.
Dunedin 2003
By 2003 Jae had formed a new band while studying music at Otago University and this band would, so Jae performed as much as he could while the 'Stark Raving' album proceeded to recieve local airplay. This fustrated Jae that he couldn't have held 'Stark Raving' together. so Jae tried to replicate these successes with a string of hard rock bands including the sucessfull Commercial 500 & Dust n bones. All of witch never recorded. So Jae then compiled a set of live recording called 'Live n Kickin' that date back to 2000 but was released in 2006.
Were ever i lay my hat 2008
Jae after much family upheaval decided to concetrate hard on his own music and started recording and touring solo. During this time Jae played all over New Zealand and released 'Unplugged n Unhinged' in 2008. Recieving a 'Gold guitar award' for composition. Won a rintone competion with Voveo.com & won the local part of the 'Sounds of your home town' competion. Jae perfomed alot in Christchurch and vertually lived there in 2008. While in Christchurch Jae met singer songwriter Miriam craig. This meeting proved to be fateful. They met, fell in love, formed a new band & got engaged.(in no perticular order)
Dunedin 2009
Miriam moved to Dunedin to be with Jae. They've spent the year so far Playing as a duo and recording. They are forming a new band(the welcomed return of Mark Reeve) with a bit of a revolving door rhythm section to promote the 1st fruits of these labours 'telling stories with chords'(out now).
